Once a month I attend the Indonesian ladies gathering in Manila, basically we all catching up in our mother tongue while enjoying delicious spread of our national food which is a real treat when you live abroad. It’s also a perfect forum to meet people and see new places, at least for me since my daily routine to go out and about is quiet predictable (my daughter school, yoga studio, groceries & baking supplies shop). Truthfully I’ve met some of my closest friends in this gathering.
Today in particular we have special occasion for Maria, she is getting married and we’re giving her the traditional bridal shower to wish her all the best for her new journey. The whole ceremony and the setting was very beautiful, if I closed my eyes I think I’m being teleported back home! Dress code of the day was white kebaya and batik bottom but the bride to be changed her outfit 3 times, just beautiful. To mark the special occasion I’ve baked butter cookies with lace kebaya (our traditional blouse) icing on it.
Congratulations Maria, wishing you all the best.
My daughter used to read Fancy Nancy the book endlessly when she was 6 years old, I was all ears when she talked about her plans to move to Paris when she’s older to open up a bakery! I asked her if I could go with her, she said that I could come and visit anytime. Now couple years later her future plan shifted, to swim in the Olympics is in her agenda. When Sarah ordered these cupcakes for her daughter I was delighted, it brings back sweet memory, the conversations I had with my daughter, the fancy words, the dress up (Fancy Nancy wears tiara and fancy dresses!), love it!
Happy birthday Lola xoxo
Pull apart cupcakes cake of chocolate cupcake with Nutella filling, buttercream frosting and sugar fondant. Birthday girl favourite colours were Tiffany blue, pink yellow and purple hence the fantastic combination. Her mum said the now officially teenager wants a big number 13 cupcakes cake with lots of flowers on it, request granted. I bought loads of new floral cutter in Singapore recently, it’s fun to try them all and experimenting with neon colours.
Happy birthday Jilly!
