Hello from Melbourne

We are currently in Victoria, Australia for a family Tri-Cation, Triathlon Vacation, cheering for my better half racing in Ironman Melbourne 2015 Asia Pacific Championship. We LOVE Melbourne, georgeus landscape, it’s diversity and the excellent FOOD!

Tried some great baked goods too, really enjoyed the coffee here (long black please) and savoury muffin is my preferred breakfast, dessert after lunch and dinner is a must, (justifiable since I pretty much spend a lot of time walking (aka shopping) which is awesome) and hey, I’m on holiday 😊

Ultraman Ginga

It’s a Japanese TV series produced by Tsuburaya Production, Ultraman Ginga (ウルトラマンギンガ Urutoraman Ginga ) is an Ultra believed to be one with Dark Lugiel separated prior to the Dark Spark War. After the Dark Spark War, he was trapped in Spark Doll form. The doll and the Ginga spark made their way to Earth and into the hands of Hikaru Raido who uses the two to transform into Ultraman Ginga and battle users of Dark Spark Dolls. When he returned to space, he left his spark in Hikaru’s possession so that he could come to the aid of earth, even if far away in the galaxy (The Japanese word “Ginga” (銀河) means Galaxy in English). These are Mio’s request for her son birthday celebration, Ultraman is made of vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting and sugar fondant, my biggest challenge creating this character is to mould the face shape to oval on a round cupcake top 🙂 The other cupcakes were chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting, I’m using metallic blue dragees to match the theme.

Merida

Princess Merida is the protagonist of Disney/Pixar’s 2012 film Brave. She is the first Scottish princess in the Disney Princess list, in the movie she’s the headstrong and free-spirited 16-year old tomboyish, willful daughter of Queen Elinor who rules the Kingdom alongside her husband, King Fergus. I love her bright red hair, very pretty! These are red velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting and sugar fondant for Avani’s birthday party.

Red Wine & Chocolate

Introducing our cupcake of the month for March 2015; the truly moist and decadent Red Wine & Chocolate cupcake with dark chocolate frosting, our newest cupcake flavour for the Grown-Ups! Once you’ve tried it guarantee you’ll you reach for more, it’s absolutely delicious.

These heavenly cupcakes in the picture were baked especially for my gravotonic yoga teacher Francesca, I packed them in a box then secured it with satin ribbon, the whole colour coordination is resembling the Italian flag, her country of origin.

PS. If you are in Manila, you have a big chance to try these yummy baked goodies 🙂

Beergene

Definitely in cupcakes frenzy on the first week of March, one of my favourite project this year, absolutely LOVE the challenge!

My friend Anne did a surprise birthday party for her husband Gene, the theme of the party was #beergene and she asked me to do a pull apart cupcakes cake in a shape of beer bottle cap. She also asked me to create several different topper on individual cupcakes. Gene is a Doctor (stethoscope topper), a triathlete (swim bike run topper and Ironman logo), loves shoes (who’s not! I’ve made leather shoes topper) and green grass (he travelled the world to lie on green grass, earthing at its best!).

The pull apart cupcakes cake consists of Caramel cupcake with dulce the leche filling and buttercream frosting. I did free style hand drawing of a famous image of beer brand on the cupcakes cake with a twist, can you tell which beer it is?

I’ve made Chocolate Red Wine cupcake with buttercream frosting and hand made sugar fondant topper for the Ironman cupcake, grass cupcake, stethoscope cupcake and shoes cupcake. The Swim Bike Run cupcakes were Red wine, Raisins and Pecan cupcake with dark chocolate frosting, I did free style hand piped white chocolate topper for the swim bike run image.

The cupcakes were a big hit at the party and I received nothing but compliments, one happy cupcake artis here 🙂

We’re hosting a BBQ birthday dinner for Hubby’s friends last night and I’ve made their initial on the cupcake with sugar fondant. Got several new sets of fondant cutter and embosser from Michaels that I’ve been wanting to try, LOVE them 🙂

Hinamatsuri

Every March 3rd all families with young daughters in Japan pray for happiness and healthy growth of their girls, the special day is called Hinamatsuri (Doll’s Day or Girl’s Festival), they mark this day by setting up a display of dolls (Hina) with peach blossoms inside the house.

1st Birthday

How exciting, 1st birthday celebration for Jeff’s baby boy! I remembered my daughter 1st birthday party, she was napping halfway through the party and not impressed with the candle blowing ceremony but LOVE the cake 🙂

Jeff asked me to do a pull apart cupcakes cake of Lightning McQueen for his son, typically referred to by his surname McQueen, is an anthropomorphic race car in the animated Pixar film Cars (2006), its sequel Cars 2 (2011) and TV shorts known as Car Toons. I really enjoyed transforming the cupcakes cake with this famous character (we went to see him at Disneyland Hongkong!), love the bold colours and his smiley face. Did several individually wrapped cupcakes with number 1 pin up in matching colour as well for the party favour.
