Primary FOBISIA 2017

The Primary Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Games last weekend were hosted by Jerudong International School (JIS) in Brunei Darussalam. Around 200 student athletes from six schools were taking part in the Games – JIS; British School Manila; Dulwich College, Shanghai; Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur; Harrow International School, Bangkok; and Kellett School, Hong Kong. My better half and I went to Brunei to cheer on our daughter.

On first day in Athletic, Ariel did 800m sprint (PB at 5th place), 4×100 relay (Silver), Discus Throw (Gold) and Shuttle Relay (Silver).

2nd Day is Swimming in the morning, Ariel won Bronze in 200m IM, Silver in 50m Butterfly, Gold in 100m Medley Relay, Gold in 200m Free Relay and Gold in Tyre Relay. After lunch break they played T-Ball, Ariel’s Team won 5 straight matches (Gold), Miguel and I were in awe with their efforts and brilliant team spirits, super proud parents.

3rd Day was Football, Ariel’s Team won 2 games, 2 draw and 1 lost resulting in Bronze medal, absolutely fantastic!

Last but not least, British School Manila won Silver in the overall athletics and swimming, truly amazing achievement since they had a change in opposition and what was a significantly stronger group (compared to last year).

Thank you to all amazing Coaches, wonderful BSM Teachers & splendid Supporters, congratulations Ariel and Team, we are very, very proud of you all.

Enjoy the photos!

Market Findings

Market.jpg

Once a week I made a trip to Farmers Market nearby our neck of the wood here in Manila, it’s my way of knowing what fresh items are in season. This week I discovered that avocados and mangoes were crowding the shelves on fresh fruits sections, hoooraayy!

My daughter will have her favourite sliced mangoes and freshly baked alfajores for her after school activities snacks today and Saba banana fritter for me, yum!

About last night …

On Valentine’s Day, my better half walked in with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a huge chunk of lush rose soap into our home, very sweet of him. This year instead of going out for romantic dinner and braving the traffic we’ve invited our neighbors and another close friends of ours to join us for dinner at home. We had a blast!

I cooked Bania (my mother in law recipe of Okra and Lamb stew), Pulled pork ribs, oxtail soup (Indonesian style) and chopped fresh veggies to go with it. Baked upside down banana cake, leche flan, gluten free brownies and alfajores, my kitchen was overflowing with goodies!

My favourite part of the evening was the wonderful time we spent with our friends, Valentine’s dinner at its best ♥

Victoria Layers Cake

I’m in Victoria Sandwich frenzy!

Got new small round cake tins from my baking supplier, so happy I can finally trying it out for the first time, baking vanilla sponges it is. Made fresh strawberry filling and buttercream  while the sponges cooling off (fresh cream is very rare in my part of the world so I settled with my delicious buttercream instead). Was indecisive when I assembled the cake, ends up stacking all 6 layers of them in a go, very happy with the look but had a good laugh when I cut it!

A slice of cake anyone?

100 Days

Audrey’s tiny bump that we’ve celebrated with a Pink Baby Showers several months back now turns into a beautiful bouncing baby girl. The Liu family invited us to baby Larissa lovely 100 days celebration over the weekend so I’ve got to see her in person for the first time. She’s absolutely adorable!

For the special occasion Audrey’s asked me to make flower garden theme cupcakes with soft pastel colours combination, such a nice break from all the farewell’s theme cupcake, LOVE it!

Some photos of us from the party, enjoy.
